Eccentricities Store is Back!
That's right! And we're back with a whole new provider! Zazzle.com!

Zazzle's products are superior to those of our last provider, and on top of that, they run regular sales and incentives on the products that our store carries! And if that wasn't enough, every time you purchase a product from our store, we earn a couple of bucks. You get what you want and get to help out your favorite forum, too! Like, how cool is that?

We're just getting the store open, so right now, we're a little short on products. What we do have there is pretty cool, though. A couple of nice T-shirts, some seriously nice posters, and even a super nice mug featuring the artwork by our very own Kane!

Come check us out today! Come visit the all new Eccentricities Store!

Lurker Purge Policies Revised - Purge System Updated
And a Personal Note from Brumby
It has come to my attention that there have been a great many non-active registrants accumulating on the forums. Moreover, many of these non-active accounts have been used for only browsing through artwork, but never for participation.

Eccentricities is a privately owned and privately funded forum. Despite this, we do have a respectable amount of bandwidth and a good server, but still these services have limitations. Eccentricities cannot afford to have dozens (often hundreds) of non-participating accounts lingering on the forums, consuming these limited server resources and bandwidth, and especially doing so by coming on to only look at art, which consumes these resources the most.

We had a lurker purge system in place before which extended a great deal of leniency to new members. It has become clear that this leniency has been abused. We are a privately owned and funded service, and the consumption of resources by these loitering accounts is rising to the point where I need to make some significant changes to our purging policies.

The new Lurker Purge policies are as follows:
  • 14 days, 0 posts
  • 29 days, only 1 post
  • 60 days, only 2 posts
If your account falls within the above criteria, it will be purged. You may register a new account, but if you choose not to participate with it, it will eventually be purged as well.

I apologize if this causes inconvenience, but as the site's owner, I have to look at what the site is costing, and what I need to do to keep costs down. If I cannot keep costs down, then I will either need to start asking for subscription fees, or be forced to eventually close the site down. I conducted a manual purge just before writing this change of policy. Over 300 non-participatory accounts were deleted. That is just far too much. The Internet is not free. Somebody is paying for it. In the case of Eccentricities, there is only one person paying for it, and that person is me.

Please don't lurk. Eccentricities has gained enough popularity in the fandom so that people are hearing it about and are coming to check it out. If I have to put up more money to up the site's performance to accommodate participating members, then I am more than happy to do it. I have no intention, however, of allowing myself to be forced to do so for lurkers.

You lurk, you get purged. It is a regretful thing to be forced to do, but it is a thing I am being forced to do.

Reminder: Whom to Contact with Forum/Account Problems
We would like to remind all members that Eccentricities has a Duty Moderator on call at all times. The Duty Moderator can be found at the top of the forms, and clicking on their name will link you directly to an already-addressed PM form to that moderator.

Please, refer all questions about forum and account functions to the Duty Moderator. Please do this before contacting a member of the administrative staff (unless they are listed as the Duty Moderator). All Moderators have a working knowledge of how the forums work, and will likely be able to help you solve your problem. If they are unable to right away, they will forward your request to a member of the administrative team. In fact, contacting a member of the administrative team with your question, may just find your question referred to the Duty Moderator, in which case, it may take longer for you to receive a response.

We have this system in place because all of the staff at Eccentricities have very busy lives. During their week of Duty Moderator, staff know they are on call, and are ready to render immediate assistance.

Please contact the Duty Moderator first. They are on duty to help you.

Reminder: Forum Policy On Political Threads (SOPA)
Whilst we understand that discussion over the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) remains a subject of interest or concern to a lot of people, we must remind members that Eccentricities is not an appropriate place for political debate.

We are a paw/foot fetish community, and one which values harmony between its members. As such, the posting of political topics or campaigns is not only irrelevant to our forum's themes but also has the tendency of stirring up controversial comments or even flame wars.

We would therefore remind members to please read our Forum Policies carefully concerning the posting of such topics. Any threads found to be stirring up political controversy or 'soapboxing' will be removed, while members seen to be persistently breaching this policy will be subject to disciplinary action.

If you are still unsure whether a topic is appropriate for our forums, please feel free to get in touch with a member of our staff team. Thank you.

New Domain Name (lifeunderfoot.org) & Login/Registration Issues
Eccentricities is currently in the process of switching to a new domain name. Instead of lifeunderfoot.org, we can now be found at our new address, lifeunderfoot.org. The old name will remain active for some time and should begin automatically redirecting visitors to the new URL. (For more information about the change, click here.)

We are aware that some people have been experiencing problems logging in as a result of the change. If you are attempting to login from lifeunderfoot.org and your browser does not automatically redirect you to the new address, please go to lifeunderfoot.org and try logging in again. The site should then work as normal, but if you are experiencing any further problems, please do not hesitate to send a message to our team using the Contact Us page.

It had also been brought to our attention that some visitors were unable to register new accounts after the domain switch due to a fault with the CAPTCHA image. Our technical staff has now resolved this problem but if you are still unable to register, please contact staff using the above link.

We apologise for any confusion or inconvenience and rest assured we are looking to swiftly resolve any ongoing technical issues.

My Posts Won't Show Up!
Folks, it is with regret, but from absolute necessity, that we have anti-spam software installed on the forums. Bots, everyday, become increasingly innovative and determined to spread unsolicited advertisement all over forums like ours. In an effort to combat this, however, some members have been (and are still being) affected. Posts aren't showing up like they are supposed to, and whole threads are being filtered. If you become effected though, please contact a member of staff, and they will ensure that your posts are ushered through with all haste. We apologize greatly for our fine folks having to deal with all of this, but as stated, it is a necessity. Otherwise, we'd find ourselves likely wading in never ending unwanted ads. Even still, only a few people seem to have so far been affected. But if you are affected, be sure to let someone on staff know!
